Job Description
In the Department of Academic Nursing, Nurse Anesthesia teaching faculty are individuals whose primary role is didactic, simulation, or clinical instruction, or oversight of clinical courses. This faculty member is responsible for planning, organizing, implementing, and assessing course content. Teaching faculty receive teaching assignments from the Department Chair.
Qualifications for this role:
- Education and/or experience in the course area.
- RN and/or APRN licensure, as appropriate.
- CRNA Certification
- Full-time preferred, but part-time or adjunct faculty may be appropriate with approval of the Chair.
- Doctoral prepared.
Responsibilities:
- Develops and revises course syllabus and any associated course materials to ensure contemporary relevance.
- Administers the course consistent with Department of Academic Nursing expectations to support student success.
- Communicates with the library to secure access to course materials for enrolled graduate students.
- Develops and administers appropriate assessments to measure student knowledge, skills and abilities using best practices.
- Provides individual graduate student consultation regarding course content, as necessary.
- Is accountable for course performance.
- Submits grades consistent with department policy.
- Communicates in a timely manner with students, department and/or educational tract leaderships, as necessary.
- Adheres to and implements pertinent policies and procedures.
- Fulfills academic rank and faculty role expectations associated with teaching, service, and scholarship.
- Conducts clinical site visits, as appropriate to course assignment.
