Job Title: Midwife (Certified Nurse Midwife)

Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate, experienced, and dedicated Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) to join our growing team. This position will involve providing prenatal care, delivering babies, and offering a wide range of women's health services in a supportive and patient-centered office setting. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to the well-being of expectant mothers and their families, a deep understanding of women's health, and the ability to provide personalized care throughout the perinatal period and beyond.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prenatal Care:
- Conduct comprehensive prenatal assessments, including history-taking, physical exams, and lab tests.
- Monitor maternal and fetal health, ensuring the pregnancy is progressing healthily and managing any complications.
- Provide patient education on pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum care.
- Coordinate with other healthcare providers as necessary to ensure optimal care.
- Women’s Health Services:
- Provide gynecological care, including annual exams, STI screenings, contraception counseling, and management of various women's health issues.
- Offer counseling on family planning, menopause, and other reproductive health matters.
- Perform well-woman exams and preventive screenings.
- Labor and Delivery:
- Provide prenatal and postnatal care to patients
- Perform vaginal deliveries, and when necessary, assist with cesarean sections in a collaborative environment with obstetricians and other healthcare providers.
- Offer support for patients during labor, including pain management techniques, emotional support, and continuous care.
- Educate and support families regarding newborn care, breastfeeding, and postnatal recovery.
- Postpartum Care:
- Provide postpartum assessments, including physical exams, mental health checks, and family support.
- Offer breastfeeding counseling and support for new mothers.
- Provide follow-up care to ensure both mother and baby are progressing well in the weeks after delivery.
- Collaboration & Communication:
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the best care for all patients.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records in compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.
- Communicate effectively with patients, providing education and answering any questions they may have.
Qualifications:
- Must be a Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) with active certification and licensure in New Mexico.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in midwifery, obstetrics, or related field.
- Strong knowledge of women’s health issues, prenatal care, and labor and delivery practices.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative healthcare team.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to educate and support patients in making informed decisions about their health.
- Compassionate, patient-centered approach to care.
- Ability to handle stressful and fast-paced situations calmly and effectively.
- CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Preferred Skills/Experience:
- Experience in both home births and hospital deliveries.
- Knowledge of complementary health practices and holistic care in pregnancy and delivery.
- Ability to provide culturally sensitive care to diverse populations.
