The Fertility & IVF Nurse establishes an empathic patient experience by providing excellent clinical, emotional and psychological support to all our patients. The Fertility & IVF Nurse contributes to the Physician’s effectiveness by identifying patient care issues, providing information and commentary pertinent to the patient care, recommending possible options as appropriate and implements physician directives. This position will also assist with in-office procedures related to fertility, take care of patients in the PACU and perform other basic hands-on patient care as indicated.
The ideal candidate will have experience managing IVF and fertility patients, or have a comprehensive overview of women’s healthcare as the foundation to learning the nurse’s function in reproductive medicine. In addition, and very important, the ideal candidate should have the ability to quickly establish credibility, confidence, and trust with our patients. Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
This position requires excellent interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team toward positive patient outcomes. The team member filling this position will provide credible authority, lead by example and demonstrate sound judgment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The Fertility & IVF Nurse Nurse must demonstrate commitment to our patients by accepting responsibility for the following job functions:
Clinical/Technical:
- Contribute to the physician’s effectiveness by educating patients regarding their treatment plan. Build patient confidence and trust by teaching patients to understand their treatment plan, medications, and self-care through patient education available in approved materials and on our website.
- Provide physician and practitioners with information and commentary pertinent to patient care; recommend possible options and courses of action as appropriate; implement physician directives.
- Follow the required protocols and processes, including calendars, checklists and performance benchmarks.
- Document patient care services in the EMR database, with special attention to consent forms, FDA paperwork, and medications.
- Establish and maintain an empathic environment by providing patients emotional and psychological support, comfort patients by anticipating their anxieties and answering their questions, and resolve patient challenges and concerns by utilizing multidisciplinary team strategies.
- Triage patient calls.
- Return patient calls and make patient calls within established timelines regarding laboratory values and semen analysis results, with appropriate explanation and interpretation.
- Assist physician with in-office procedures as necessary.
- Perform nurse PACU functions.
Compliance:
- Assure quality care by adhering to therapeutic standards, follow physician practice and nursing philosophies, as well as standards of care set by federal, state, and other regulatory agencies.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
- Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols, sterilization of instruments, medication storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.
- Wear protective clothing and protective gear as required.
- Report all patient and employee incidents to the compliance officer.
Team Commitment:
- Contribute to team effort by maintaining an excellent rapport and working relationship between Clinical Services, IVF and Andrology Laboratory Services and other multi-disciplinary teams within the practice.
- Maintain a cooperative relationship among the clinical staff by communicating information in a timely fashion, responding to requests, building rapport and participating in team problem-solving methods.
- Attend meetings as requested by the Medical Director.
Additional Responsibility:
- Assist with new patient assessment (Vitals and phlebotomy).
- Accept projects as assigned by the Medical Director.
Professional Development:
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Texas RN license without limitations. BSN Degree preferred.
- Minimum 2 years’ clinical experience in women’s healthcare. Reproductive medicine experience preferred;
- Candidates must possess a minimum of 2 years of continuous, current employment in a relevant field within the last 2 years
- BCLS/ACLS and/or IV certification required. (We will sponsor appropriate candidate for one or more of these certifications if necessary.).
- Phlebotomy skills required. Ultrasound experience a plus.
- Knowledge of OSHA compliance required.
- High level listening and counseling skills, and ability to communicate effectively by phone or video.
- Resourceful and well organized. Committed to detail and follow-up.
- Ability to work independently and demonstrate good judgment.
- Most be proficient in computer skills, both EMR and Microsoft office required. Keyboard skills 25 wpm required.
- Excellent interpersonal skills. Must relate well with patients, peers, physicians, and management. Must be genuinely concerned for people, respectful, and be able to use diplomacy and tact in tense situations.
- Ability to work in a high-standard stressful environment.
- Must be able to work some weekends and holidays.
- Bilingual - Fluent in English & Spanish preferred.

Pay: $64,000.00 - $81,000.00 per year
