Sunway Medical Centre Velocity is seeking a Clinical Psychologist to provide comprehensive psychological care to individuals experiencing emotional, psychological, and behavioral challenges. This role involves conducting assessments, delivering evidence-based interventions, and working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to support patient well-being.
Key Responsibilities
A. Clinical Functions
- Conduct psychological evaluations for both adult and pediatric patients to assess emotional well-being, cognitive functioning, and behavioral patterns.
- Administer standardized psychological tests, interviews, and observation techniques to diagnose mental health disorders such as anxiety, depression, trauma, and developmental conditions.
- Interpret assessment results and provide evidence-based reports to assist in treatment planning and care coordination.
- Deliver individual and group therapy sessions using modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Play Therapy, and family therapy.
- Address a range of psychological concerns, including mood disorders, trauma, relationship challenges, and behavioral difficulties.
- Provide specialized care for children with developmental, emotional, and behavioral conditions such as ADHD, autism spectrum disorders, and learning difficulties.
- Work closely with parents, caregivers, and educators to support children's emotional and social development.
- Offer psychoeducation to families to enhance understanding and management of psychological conditions.
- Respond to mental health crises, providing immediate intervention for acute cases, including trauma, self-harm, and suicidal ideation.
- Conduct psychological assessments and provide therapeutic interventions for individuals and couples facing fertility challenges, including infertility, pregnancy loss, and assisted reproductive technologies (ART).
- Offer counseling and education to individuals or couples undergoing fertility treatments such as IVF, IUI, and egg/sperm donation.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers, educators, social workers, and community resources to ensure integrated patient care.
B. Administrative Functions
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes, in compliance with legal and ethical standards.
- Ensure patient confidentiality and data security in adherence to the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) in Malaysia.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including doctors, allied health professionals, and counselors, to ensure holistic patient care.
- Assist in the analysis and procurement of clinical equipment by gathering specifications and evaluating different brands to support decision-making.
Qualification & Requirements
- Bachelor’s in Clinical Psychology or Master's in Clinical Psychology from accredited university.
- Registered with The Malaysian Psychological Association (PSIMA) and Allied Health Professions Act 2016 (Act 774).
- Strong clinical experience in psychological assessments and interventions.
- Experience in hospital or clinical settings is an advantage.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Computer literate, with skills in applying software-based programmes for assessment and treatment of communication disorders.
- Good oral communication and writing skills in at least English and Bahasa Melayu.
