Location & commitments
Full Time/Part Time roles based at our Greenville location, Monday-Friday, 8:00a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Early and late hours required. Overtime may be required to ensure patients are taken care, tasks are completed, and calls are returned in a timely manner. Weekend work is rare but can occasionally be necessary.
Supervision Received: Reports to Clinical Supervisor; POD Manager; Director of Operations.
Supervision Exercised: None.
Typical Physical Demands: Involves sitting for extended periods, typing and data entry, visual and auditory acuity, talking and listening, use of office equipment and ability to focus for extended periods.

About The Role
As a Remote Triage Nurse, you will be the first point of contact for patients seeking medical advice. You will assess their symptoms, provide appropriate guidance according to organizational and departmental policies and procedures, and direct them to the appropriate level of care, all while delivering exceptional customer service in a remote setting.
Responsibilities: (This list may not include all the duties assigned.)
- Conduct remote patient assessments via phone or secure portal messages.
- Provide nursing advice based on clinical protocols, guidelines, and best practices.
- Triage incoming calls, prioritize cases based on severity, and provide recommendations for next steps.
- Document patient interactions and maintain accurate, up-to-date records in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers, including doctors, specialists, and other team members to ensure continuity of care.
- Educate patients on preventative healthcare, treatment options, and wellness strategies.
- Assist with follow-up care, monitoring patients’ progress, and ensuring they receive the necessary medical attention.
Other duties: - Maintains patient confidentially.
- Keep management informed of high-risk situations.
- Maintains licensure in accordance with North Carolina Board of Nursing.
- Practice infection control, following OSHA guidelines and office policy.
- Maintain CPR certification.
- Attend fire safety classes, clinical meetings, compliance, and other continuing education classes as offered by Physicians East.
- Adheres to department and office policies.
Candidate requirements - Graduate of an accredited nursing program. Licensure: Must be registered with NCBON and in good standing.
- Experience in electronic medical records (EMR/HER) software required.
- Professional demeanor and recognition of privacy considerations for patients and families.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to communicate and interact professionally with others.
- Ability to actively listen.
- Ability to observe and to draft a narrative account of events accurately and cogently, in grammatically correct English.
- Ability to spell, proofread and edit written text.
