Role Summary
Reporting the Manager, Finance, the Junior Accountant has the primary responsibility for the financial reporting, financial analysis, account reconciliations, and journal entries for the Organization. The role is responsible for the creation of detailed financial statements, reports, and financial analysis and reconciliations of different types of accounts.
The role provides variety of different levels of accounting and bookkeeping duties; including vendor management, process and manage accounts payables (AP) and accounts receivable (AR), while also assisting in development and administration of accounting and internal controls.
Key Responsibilities
As a Junior Accountant, you’ll play a crucial role in ensuring financial accuracy, optimizing processes, and supporting key financial operations. Your contributions will directly impact decision-making and financial strategy.
Financial Operations & Reporting
- Support the Manager, Finance in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closings.
- Prepare and submit weekly and monthly financial reports to maintain accurate and timely records.
- Ensure data accuracy by updating and maintaining financial databases.
- Assist in processing income statements, balance sheets, and financial reports in alignment with legal and accounting standards.
- Conduct reconciliations for accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and ensure timely invoice processing and payments.
- Record financial transactions efficiently, ensuring compliance with best accounting practices.
Accounts & Revenue Management
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and patient refunds, ensuring smooth financial transactions.
- Play a key role in cancellation management to maintain accurate financial records.
- Reconcile inventory and revenue items while reporting key findings to Manager, Finance.
- Ensure timely financial closings across multiple entities, maintaining high standards of accuracy.
- Reconcile revenue collections with vendor bills to optimize financial efficiency.
Strategic Financial Support & Process Improvement
- Develop and refine monthly financial statements, including profit and loss statements, cash flow reports, and balance sheets.
- Assist in consolidating corporate financial statements, including supporting schedules and disclosures.
- Contribute to streamlining accounting and expense management systems to drive efficiency and effectiveness.
- Support special financial projects as required, providing insights and solutions for process improvements.
Qualifications
- Successful completion of a Post-secondary degree/diploma, preferably in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or other related field
- CPA designation or in progress
- 1-3 years proven working experience in Accounting, preferably in the healthcare field
- Experience in the use of the QuickBooks platform is required for this role
- Experience with Accuro or similar EMR system is an asset
- Detailed knowledge of accounting principles and accounting systems to maintain general ledgers and journals and prepare related statements and reports.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (v-lookups, pivot tables, macros, etc.) is required
- Proven ability to exercise a high level of confidentiality
