We are a busy anaesthetic department with a commitment to train both local and overseas Trainees and have an active educational programme.
The successful candidate will hold FRCA or equivalent and have evidence of extensive experience with anaesthesia.
Successful candidates will undertake anaesthetic sessions across a range of surgical specialties including general surgery, trauma, maxillo facial surgery, urology and gynaecology.
The anaesthetic department at Worthing is extremely forward thinking and has established itself within the research arena, with multiple presentations at national and international level.
The hospital is located between the sea and the south downs national park, giving ample opportunity to pursue a variety of different interests.
Worthing Hospital has 8 main operating theatres, 2 day surgery theatres and an obstetric theatre. The Anaesthetic department provides anaesthesia for over 100 routine operating lists per week, servicing all major specialties including orthopaedics, trauma, Bariatrics (not at Worthing site), Maxillo facial surgery, Gynaecology, Breast, ENT, colorectal, urology and ophthalmology.
Anaesthesia is also provided for the Radiology, Endoscopy, Cardiology and A&E departments.
In addition, the department is responsible for running the Critical Care services within the Trust, the maintenance of obstetric and both emergency and trauma anaesthetic services.
Consultants also attend regular ECT sessions, which occur in a purpose built ECT suite at Meadowfield - a psychiatric hospital on the northwest edge of town.
