Organization Overview

The ultimate objective of the work in my laboratory is to understand the cellular and molecular basis of vertebrate embryonic induction,with a special emphasis on germ layer and organ formation. Toward this aim,we perform comparative studies using both amphibian and mammalian model systems, including human embryonic stem cells.

Overview

We seek a Postdoctoral researcher with a strong sense of independence and keen interest in driving research initiatives to join us at the Laboratory of Synthetic Embryology. They will work on a project correlating molecular behavioral phenotypes in a marmoset model of Huntington’s Disease.This is a great opportunity for individuals interested in studying in vitro models of neurodegenerative disease with a specific focus on investigating developmental aspects of Huntington’s Disease. Responsibilities

Responsiblities include:

Leading a project in analyzing the molecular mechanisms of Huntington’s Disease
Developing differentiation protocols and imaging and visualization strategies
Mentoring research assistants

Qualifications

Required:

PhD degree in a relevant field such as cell or molecular biology, biophysics, bioengineering
Experience in confocal imaging techniques and equipment
Must be able to work independently as well as part of a multi-disciplinary team

Preferred

Individuals with thorough working knowledge of molecular, stem-cell biology, biochemistry, and/or genetics are strongly encouraged to apply
Strong computational skills is a plus
Effective written and oral communication skills
An aptitude to be a lead author on peer-reviewed publications
