Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Medical Laboratory Scientist Expert to perform and report analyses from multiple specimen sources. This role serves as a technical expert within the laboratory, troubleshooting instrumentation and making operational decisions in the absence of leadership.
This position offers a day shift schedule and provides the opportunity to work with state-of-the-art automated testing equipment in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform technical laboratory duties and serve as a key technical expert at the instrument level.
- Troubleshoot and resolve instrumentation issues as needed.
- Make operational decisions when the Analytical Specialist or Team Leader is unavailable.
- Assist with the evaluation and validation of new testing methods, products, and instrumentation.
- Develop and implement new laboratory procedures and update manuals.
- Ensure quality control, competency testing, and maintenance compliance.
- Assist with inventory management and supply ordering.
- Participate in employee training and education programs.
- Support specialized testing in areas such as Flow Cytometry, Toxicology, Allergy Testing, Infectious Diseases, and Specialty Coagulation.
- Work within a satellite cancer center laboratory, providing real-time testing in collaboration with healthcare teams.
Qualifications
Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) – Required:
- Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field.
- Successful completion of an ASCP/NAACLS-accredited Medical Laboratory Science program OR:
- BS in biological, chemical, physical, or clinical lab science with ASCP categorical certification OR
- BS in biological, chemical, physical, or clinical lab science with two years of equivalent experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT).
Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) – Accepted:
- Associate degree in laboratory science.
- Certification or eligibility as an MLT from an accredited institution.
Military experience is welcome! Candidates with relevant military backgrounds, including U.S. Army 68K, U.S. Navy Medical Laboratory Technician, and U.S. Air Force 4T0X1, are encouraged to apply.
