We are seeking a motivated and skilled post-doctoral fellow with a strong background in biostatistics methods development and innovative applications. The successful candidate will contribute to advancing novel biostatistical methods motivated by problems arising in the FLOURISH (Family Oriented and Service User Centered Research in Pregnancy Health) group, Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Department of Health Research Methods, Evidence, and Impact, McMaster University. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of maternal-child health, health research methodology, and advanced statistical modeling.
Job Description
The successful candidate will be co-supervised in a vibrant and collaborative environment by Dr. Joseph Beyene (Professor of Biostatistics and the John D. Cameron Endowed Chair in the Genetic Determinants of Chronic Diseases) and Dr. Rohan D’Souza (perinatal clinical epidemiologist and Canada Research Chain in Maternal Health). The fellowship will involve development and application of advanced biostatistical methods including, but not limited to, evidence synthesis (various meta-analytic approaches such as network meta-analysis, dose-response meta-analysis etc.), developing and validating prediction models using traditional and machine learning approaches, and modelling data related to global health studies. Experience in research related to obstetrics, neonatology or perinatology would be an asset.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement biostatistical methods motivated by practical problems in obstetrics and gynecology.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of researchers.
- Assist with Grant writing.
- Mentor graduate and under-graduate students.
- Prepare and publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals.
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Biostatistics or a related field.
- Proficiency in R software.
- Excellent communication and collaborative skills.
- Demonstrated ability to publish research findings.
Salary and Benefits:
The salary will range from $45000-$60000. Typical benefits for full-time job such as health and dental plan will be provided. The postdoctoral fellow is also eligible to apply for additional funding (e.g. Professional Development Fund, Postdoctoral Fellow Support Fund).
