Andrology Technologist
About the Role
TRIO Fertility is seeking an Andrology Technologist to join our dynamic laboratory team. This role is critical in preparing and handling sperm specimens for IVF, IUI, and cryopreservation while maintaining the highest standards of safety, accuracy, and patient care.
Key ResponsibilitiesLaboratory Operations
- Perform safe, precise procedures for handling human sperm and semen.
- Maintain a clean, organized lab, including waste disposal and equipment sterilization.
- Monitor lab equipment, incubators, and cryostorage.
- Ensure proper documentation and data entry into lab systems.
- Order and track laboratory supplies and reagents.
- Participate in team meetings and educational activities.
Specimen Preparation & Assessment
- Process sperm samples for IVF, IUI, and ICSI using standardized protocols.
- Assess sperm quality using morphological criteria and advanced techniques.
- Conduct sperm washing, swim-up, gradient washes, and cryopreservation.
- Utilize specialized staining techniques for DNA fragmentation and morphology analysis.
- Prepare and handle TESE, TESA, and PESA specimens for insemination and storage.
Cryopreservation & Quality Control
- Freeze and thaw gametes and embryos following established protocols.
- Maintain strict adherence to safety regulations (WHMIS, ASRM, CFAS, Health Canada).
- Perform routine quality control checks on laboratory processes and equipment.

Qualifications
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients and healthcare teams
- Proficient in phlebotomy techniques and medical terminology
- Extensive laboratory experience in handling and analyzing specimens
- Previous hospital experience preferred
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced medical environment
- Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and safety standards
