Job Summary
Applications are invited from committed and enthusiastic doctors for a post as a senior clinical fellow (ST4 or equivalent and above) in HTLV at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. This post is at St Mary's Hospital This clinical research role within the HTLV team allows a resident doctor to develop highly specialist skills within HTLV infection and a speciality of their interest. Previously, candidates have specialised in neurology, haematology or HIV. The post is for up to 3 years full time and allows the individual to develop research within a specific area of HTLV-1-associated disease.
The post holder will participate in outpatient based clinics, managing under supervision, patients with HTLV-I and HTLV-II infections and associated diseases, particularly HTLV-1-associated myelopathy.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will be expected to participate flexibly in the service provided by the National Centre for Human Retrovirology. The basic duties are to manage, under supervision, patients with HTLV-I and HTLV-II infections and associated diseases, particularly HTLV-1-associated myelopathy. Patients may have co-infection with HIV, or have complications that include rheumatology, respiratory, rheumatology, psychiatry, and urology specialities. Thus this post will provide experience of holistic medical management. There is no on-call commitment.
