An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Lead Safeguarding Midwife . The post will require the post holder to work across the York and Scarborough Trust sites.
The Lead Safeguarding Midwife works as a member of the maternity and neonatal senior leadership team, working in collaboration with the Trust Safeguarding Children Team supporting all activity in ensuring the maternity unit meets its safeguarding responsibilities. You will work as part of the MDT to lead and coordinate the clinical, managerial and educational requirements for those families who may require enhanced safeguarding.
The role is cross-site, encompassing the footprint of York and Scarborough NHS Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The Safeguarding Lead Midwife will work closely with all members of the MDT, including the Local and regional Safeguarding Teams and the Named Midwife for Safeguarding Children. They will be required to provide safeguarding advice and support, with other responsibilities including supporting risk assessment, analysis and decision-making within safeguarding practice. The Lead Safeguarding midwife will be confident to develop and provide training independently and in supporting the facilitation of safeguarding supervision with staff across the Trust.
You will be an autonomous practitioner, promoting the best practice and highest standards within maternity services. As a highly motivated individual, with a passion for providing high quality, evidence-based specialist maternity care the postholder will be integral to the evolving and developing team. Leading by example, you will empower staff in their professional development. As an expert practitioner in safeguarding, you will be responsible for liaising, guiding and advising the MDT and maternity stakeholders in the provision of optimum care.
