Job Summary
We are looking to recruit a surgeon to specialise in knee elective (arthroplasty and soft tissue surgery) as well as general and subspecialty orthopaedic trauma management.
Although this is a locum post to cover a one year sabbatical, there is a strong possibility that this will lead to a substantive post in the near future as we seek to expand the department in preparation for the New Elective Centre within the hospital.
The outpatient service for this service is a multidisciplinary clinic with input from physiotherapy, podiatry, radiology and sports and exercise medicine consultants and registrars. This service has grown over the past 24 months and the work associated with these clinics has led to a greater demand for our services.
Main duties of the job
This post will work with 10 other orthopaedic consultants and be part of the trauma and orthopaedic team at the Homerton Hospital. This post is part of the strategic plan to build on the success of our Trauma & Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine service.
Expertise is required within both trauma and elective orthopaedic surgery, and this will include training in all aspects of knee surgery.
