This is an on-site and full-time position in Waltham, MA. At Alloy, we have an ethos of “Mentorship-By-Apprenticeship” in all of our positions. The Team
The Alloy Genetic Medicines group is innovating a novel RNA-based drug discovery platform, namely “AntiClastic”, spanning the fields of antisense therapeutics to immunomodulating therapeutics. This technology platform was launched by Alloy in 2023 after exclusively licensing its underlying intellectual property which implements a novel spatial conformation of the oligonucleotide developed by Sudhir Agrawal of Arnay Sciences. The team works closely with external partners to discover and develop AntiClastic RNA medicines.
The Role
As an Associate Scientist, you will work within the Genetic Medicine team in Waltham, MA. The role requires animal research experience, especially proficiency in mouse handling. Under the supervision of a senior principal scientist, this candidate will support study execution for internal in vivo studies. The candidate will also collaborate with internal/external partners on nucleic acid drug discovery projects to ensure timely execution of the experiments, and delivery of high-quality data. This role will report to the Senior Principal Scientist with autonomy owning various stakeholders, projects, and tasks in a dynamic start-up environment while keeping up the pace of Alloy.
How You’ll Drive Impact
- Execute: Perform rodent in vivo studies to support multiple drug discovery and development projects.
- Improve: Learn and identify key questions in the RNA medicine area
- Deliver: Design, execute, analyze, and interpret in vivo experiments. Generate robust, high-quality data
- Collaborate: Work closely with internal/external partners on drug discovery projects to ensure studies are executed to meet scientific goals and timelines
Principal Responsibilities
- Execute on established in vivo strategy and study plans for various drug discovery projects
- Design and conduct in vivo studies to evaluate efficacy, PK/PD relationship
- Process mouse tissue for RNA extraction and downstream analysis.
- Design and execute several molecular biology techniques including, but not limited to, nucleic acid isolation, RT-qPCR, western blots and ELISA (it is good to have in vitro experience)
- Culture various cell types including established cell lines, primary cells and iPSCs
- Analyze data using GraphPad software and prepare presentation-ready images to effectively communicate experimental findings
- Maintain comprehensive and accurate records of all experiments using the Benchling electronic notebook, ensuring meticulous documentation and data integrity
Qualifications
- B.S. or M.S. degree in Biology or related science with 3 to 5 years of additional experience in biotech/pharma
- Strong hands-on experience with mouse intracerebroventricular (ICV) and intravitreal (IVT) injections is required.
- Previous working experience in oligonucleotide modality is highly desirable

Pay Transparency
At Alloy Therapeutics, we believe in fostering trust and open communication. For this role, the estimated annual base salary range is $94,500-$112,500, with the final offer based on factors like your experience, skills, and alignment with our needs.
Additionally, this role is eligible for equity compensation, reflecting our commitment to shared success as we work together to make better medicines.
