About the role:

The Vice President of Product, reporting to the CEO, will be a strategic leader responsible for owning and evolving Embark’s entire product stack from vision and strategy through execution and delivery of outcomes. This role will drive innovation across our product portfolio, from DNA testing to digital platforms, ensuring exceptional customer experiences and alignment with Embark’s mission and business objectives.

As a key member of the executive team, the VP of Product will collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Marketing, Operations, Customer Experience, Finance, and Science to bring groundbreaking solutions to market and maximize customer- and business value, all while developing people, scaling processes, and driving operational excellence.

The VP of Product is viewed as a lynchpin of Embark’s future success and will play a critical role in shaping new initiatives and driving them to execution. This role is responsible for expanding customer value layered on top of Embark’s already strong brand and DNA test kit business with additional products that will drive customer engagement, digital experiences, and connections throughout the pet care ecosystem.

What you’ll do:

Product Strategy & Vision:
- Own the current product vision, strategy, roadmap, and learning agenda, and execute against them; over time, evolve each of these to reflect new learnings and priorities in a dynamic market
- Evaluate market trends, customer feedback, and competitive intelligence to identify opportunities for innovation and differentiation
- Exhibit an infectious curiosity about product and business opportunities, challenge the status quo, broaden the aperture when ideating but narrow the aperture when prioritizing
Leadership & Team Development:
- Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing Product team, fostering a culture of customer-centricity, collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning and improvement
- Inspire cross-functional alignment and engagement across all levels of the organization to ensure clarity and focus against strategic priorities
Product Execution:
- Oversee the end-to-end product management and design process, from discovery and design to development, launch, and iteration and refine it for optimal impact
- Drive prioritization of features and initiatives to balance customer value, business results, time to value, risk, and technical feasibility
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Partner closely with Engineering to ensure timely and high-quality product delivery and to continuously improve
- Work with Marketing to develop go-to-market strategies, new product feature announcements, messaging, and customer communications
- Collaborate with Science and other cross-functional teams to develop new product capabilities and guide the priorities for Emark’s market-leading R&D efforts
Customer-Centric Innovation:
- Champion the voice of the customer by establishing continuous feedback channels and integrating customer feedback and insights into product planning
- Ensure that every product reflects Embark’s commitment to quality, scientific integrity, and customer delight
Metrics & Accountability:
- Define and track key product KPIs to measure success and inform decision-making
- Regularly report on product performance to the executive team and key stakeholders
Best-In-Class Product Team:
- Establish and maintain a plan for the team to continuously improve and experiment with fresh models and methodologies
- Stay current on product management best practices, new opportunities presented by AI, and the evolving landscape of tools supporting product development

Experience we’re looking for:

10+ years of product management experience, with a proven track record of leading product strategy and delivery in high-growth, innovative organizations; 4+ years in a senior leadership role managing a team of product managers and UX designers
Experience in consumer technology, mobile app development, health tech, pet care, or genetics industries is strongly preferred
Exceptional ability to inspire, mentor, and lead cross-functional teams, with a focus on collaboration and results
Strategic thinker, strong analytical and strategic skills with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights
Deep understanding and empathy for customers and a passion for creating exceptional user experiences
Execution-Oriented and demonstrated ability to balance strategic thinking with tactical execution in a fast-paced environment
Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (MBA or related field) preferred

Salary: $220k - $260k
