We have an exceptional opportunity for a Neurologist with a sub-speciality in EEG to join our Richmond Hospital Neurology group.

Richmond Hospital is a fully accredited and equipped community teaching hospital with 210 acute beds serving Vancouver International Airport, BC Ferries and a growing community of 215,000. It is a teaching hospital affiliated with the University of British Columbia and has a Level 3 trauma centre classification in its Emergency Department.
The hospital has a wide range of medical services for the community including a diabetic centre, cancer clinic, exercise stress testing, pulmonary function lab, polysomnography lab, cardiac and respiratory rehabilitation, EEG, EMG, medical clinics and a vibrant research program. Patients are supported by the availability of a closed ICU, a high acuity unit, an ACE unit (acute care for the elderly) and palliative care unit. The hospital is in the design stage for a new acute care tower which will bring 100 new acute beds to the hospital by 2026.
What You’ll Do
Enjoy a hospital practice alongside your own community based office work. Hours are negotiable with on-call neurology services for emergency patients and inpatients at Richmond Hospital. Be part of the Department of Medicine working with a talented, dedicated and collegial group of specialists and subspecialists including a team of internists who cover ER consultations and medical inpatient wards, in rotation and Neurology Rapid Access Clinic. Your role will include providing consultation for the diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of patients with a wide variety of neurological disorders. For those who are interested, there is also the opportunity to discover the rewards of being actively involved in teaching medical students and residents from UBC.
Who You Are
- Certified as a Neurologist and possess five years of approved residency training.
- General neurologists and neurologists with subspecialty interests will be considered with a strong preference for those with EEG experience.
- Provisional or unrestricted license to practice medicine from the College of Physicians of BC.
- Eligibility or active fellowship in Neurology from the Royal College of Physicians of Canada.
- Candidates must also obtain their Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) certification.
- Certification in reading EEGs - Desirable
- Passionate: Passionate about patient welfare you understand the importance of delivering high quality care in the context of complex health care systems.
- A Strong Communicator: Understanding the importance of continuous and effective communication, you are highly skilled at listening, engaging and consulting with diverse stakeholders including patients, internal and external healthcare professionals and caseworker teams.
- A Leader: have the ability to pull together the appropriate data and resources to make sound decisions that are based on fact and supported rationale. The common sense and good judgement to ‘make the call’ or understand the risks associated with certain decisions and able to work well under pressure.
Successful candidate will be required to provide on-call coverage and interpretation of EEG’s.
