Reporting directly to the President, Unified Women’s Health, the Sr. Director of Communications will partner closely with Unified’s CEO and the Executive Leadership team to lead the strategic development and execution of all internal communications and marketing-related programs with an aim to build internal understanding of the business strategy, culture, and values. This professional will establish a new, innovative employee branding strategy, including an employee value proposition that aligns with the people-centric culture we are building.
This individual will lead a team of 1-2 professionals, write communications for the executive team, and help to build a collaborative, inclusive culture in a fully remote and distributed environment. We are looking for someone who has experience working with companies going through significant growth and transformation. This individual will interact with the executive team daily, therefore, experience in preparing and presenting material will be important.
The successful candidate will love working in a fast-paced and highly collaborative environment, with experience and the desire to be a thought partner and trusted advisor to the company’s leadership team. They will have a strong executive presence, communications experience and be an exceptional writer and communicator. The ideal candidate will have a clear focus on people to develop and optimize the throughput of their team and will operate in a highly collaborative, team-focused manner.
Responsibilities
- Develop long-term communication and marketing strategies and lead key initiatives to promote, achieve, and sustain a strong culture. Propose innovative approaches and solutions to engage employees and bring excitement and new experiences aligned with company culture and brand
- Work closely with executives of Unified, act as a trusted advisor on communication strategies and, write as the voice of leadership in all strategic communications and messaging
- Collaborates with Marketing and External Communications teams to ensure consistent use of messages and strategies and to leverage message utility across key audiences and media, as appropriate.
- Develop a comprehensive internal communications and employee engagement strategy, partnering with the CEO to align on goals and objectives
- Provide thought leadership in internal communications, employee engagement, and workforce development to inform company-wide initiatives
- Oversee the strategy for and execution of key events and tactics, including leadership updates, town halls, etc.
- Oversee communications using internal communication vehicles - including our intranet - as well as develop videos and other mechanisms to reach audiences
- Foster cross-functional collaboration to align internal communication strategies with broader organizational goals
- Continue to grow the internal communications function by bringing new ideas, strategies, and processes to the table
Qualifications
- At least 10 years as a communications professional with demonstrated interest and background in media & entertainment and/or the healthcare industry
- Proven track record developing and delivering innovative internal communications strategies with a focus on optimizing employee experience
- Excellent presentation skills and experience with C-suite executives
- Ability to collaborate across teams and varying priorities to maintain alignment on vision, strategy, and performance to goals
- Time spent as an external communications consultant and as an internal corporate communications professional is valued
- Demonstrate a propensity for innovative thinking and entrepreneurial attitude while being respectful of business dynamics
- A confident, risk-taker who has the ability to operate with integrity and authenticity
- Flexible and able to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
- Superior influencing, negotiation, and communication skills with the ability to present ideas at the senior level and gain executive buy-in and alignment around key priorities
