Job Opportunity: HIV Health Educator
Position Title: HIV Prevention Specialist
Reports to: Director of HIV Programs
Work Hours: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM (with occasional evenings and weekends)

We're on a mission to provide comprehensive, high-quality care to our diverse community. We're currently seeking an enthusiastic and driven individual to join our HIV Department as a Health Educator. Role Overview: As a Health Educator in our HIV Department, you'll play a vital role in promoting sexual health and preventing HIV transmission. Through education, outreach, testing, and connecting individuals to care, you'll empower our community to take charge of their well-being.
Responsibilities
- Lead informative workshops on HIV-related subjects across various community settings.
- Distribute HIV prevention resources and provide condoms to individuals and groups.
- Administer HIV tests using fingerstick blood collection.
- Conduct personalized health education and counseling sessions with high-risk individuals.
- Execute targeted outreach both on the streets of central Brooklyn, at venues, and online.
- Engage the target demographic in discussions about prevention topics (HIV testing, PrEP/PEP, condom usage, etc.).
- Innovate and facilitate a support group tailored to women living with HIV/AIDS.
- Keep community education materials up to date.
- Thoroughly document all activities as per protocol.
- Regularly submit comprehensive activity reports.
- Actively participate in meetings, training, and professional development initiatives.
- Undertake additional assignments delegated by the Program Director.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated commitment to HIV prevention and advancing health outcomes.
- Comfort with street outreach and discussing sexual health and harm reduction.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Flexibility to work non-traditional hours as needed.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and social media platforms.
- Familiarity with AIDS Institute Reporting System (AIRS) is highly advantageous.
- Bachelor’s degree in health sciences, social services, or related public health field is a plus.
- Proficiency in Spanish, Haitian Creole is beneficial.
- Knowledge of central Brooklyn neighborhoods is a positive attribute.
