We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced, enthusiastic Midwife to join our Bereavement service here at the Royal Oldham Hospital.
The successful applicant will provide enhanced models of care to birthing people and their families who experience pregnancy loss through into a subsequent pregnancy, and in doing so will contribute to the delivery of a high-quality maternity service. The role will be largely based in the clinical areas supporting and enhancing practice
You will receive a warm welcome from a high functioning, cohesive and enthusiastic Maternity service.
The Bereavement midwife will assist with compassionate care of women, birthing individuals, and their families from first point of contact until discharge from maternity services.
Deliver high quality, evidence based and family centred bereavement care within the ante natal, intrapartum and postnatal period.
To act as a coordinating contact point enabling women, birthing individuals and families easy access bereavement follow on care and support.
To analyse and rigorously review all aspects of the women’s care plan interpreting information and using knowledge and judgement to recommend new course of action where necessary.
To refer people to other practitioners when needs and risks are beyond one’s own scope of practice or require longer term support.
To liaise with the multidisciplinary team, coordinating and participating in case discussions as required.
To support patients/carers encouraging them to promote their own health and wellbeing and to express their interests and concerns.
To provide support and care for the woman and her family respecting their need for privacy and dignity.
To maintain accurate and legible patient notes (written and electronic) in accordance with Trust and national professional policies and guidelines.
