General job duties. Responsible for performing ultrasounds in a professional and diagnostic manner. Uses cognitive sonographic skills to identify and record appropriate anatomical, pathological, and diagnostic images. Thoroughly understand the operation of the ultrasound machine and utilize new technologies. Performs a variety of ultrasound examinations.
Ultrasound Diagnostic Center conducts exams such as, transvaginal dating scans, nuchal translucency, anatomical surveys (low risk and high risk), follow up growth scans, BPP's, umbilical artery dopplers, middle cerebral dopplers, possible fetal echocardiograms, transvaginal gynecological evaluations, follicular exams, saline infusion sonograms, ultrasound guided procedures (IUD insertions).
Equipment utilized in the unit/dept. (Is there computerized charting, medication systems, etc.)
EPIC (Radiant), AS OB/GYN application for structured reports.
Required Skills And Minimum Years Of Experience.
A minimum of 4 years working experience in OB/GYN. High risk obstetrical experience of 2 years desirable but not required. Experience in multiples and detecting birth defects. Knowledge in performing Detailed or Targeted anatomical surveys which includes evaluating fetal hearts per AIUM's detailed protocol. Voluson E10 equipment experience desired but not required.
Graduate of an accredited school of Diagnostic Imaging, Allied Health Certificate/Diploma or a minimum of one year equivalent work experience is preferred.
Specific licensures and certifications/registrations required. (ARRT, CRT, BLS, ACLS, etc)
Registration in at least one of the following areas of sonography is required: Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS), Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT), American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), or registry eligible.
BLS required.

Tell us about the unit/department specific training and orientation program. Tech will orientate for 2 weeks (more if needed) while under direct supervision / mentorship of preceptor. Will learn protocols, workflows, obtain EMR training in EPIC, and structure reporting training in AS OB/GYN software.
Additional Comments: Our Ultrasound Diagnostic Center is located on the campus of Sanford Health, a non-profit, integrated health care delivery system with its headquarters based in Sioux Falls, SD, with additional offices in Fargo and Bismarch, North Dakota. The Ultrasound Diagnostic Center is located within the Sanford Maternal-Fetal Medicine Clinic where staff rotate between providing OB/GYN care for the perinatologists and a large OB/GYN Women's Health Clinic. Currently staff work side by side with two perinatologists who read all the obstetrical exams performed within our Department. We provide high risk obstetrical ultrasounds for the Maternal-Fetal Medicine Clinic including outreach services and low risk obstetrical services including gynecological exams for a large Women's Health Clinic. We are accredited by AIUM. Staff include 15 registered sonographers who have a passion for women's health. They work in a high volume, fast pace environment where each room is equipped with state of the art equipment and a high low exam table. We take pride in working in a friendly, clean environment where we work as a team to provide excellence in patient care.
