HM Medical, Inc - located in Newport Beach, near Hoag Hospital, offers Orange County's Highest Quality Obstetrical and Gynecological Care. We are currently pursuing a search for the ideal candidate as our new Physician Assistant. Our growing practice consists of two OB/GYN physicians, physician assistants, ultrasound services, and support staff.

The PA is responsible for the full scope OBGYN office patient care, including initial consultations, development of appropriate plans of care and ongoing evaluation. The physician assistant works under the supervision of physicians on site.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

2 years of OB/GYN experience preferred
Medical knowledge, including an understanding of pathophysiology, patient presentation, differential diagnosis, patient management, surgical principles, health promotion and disease prevention.
Demonstrate core knowledge of established and evolving biomedical and clinical sciences and the application of this knowledge to patient care in this area.
Identify the appropriate site of care for presenting conditions, including identifying emergent cases and those requiring referral or admission
Identify appropriate interventions for prevention of conditions
Identify the appropriate methods to detect conditions in an asymptomatic individual
Differentiate between the normal and the abnormal in anatomic, physiological, laboratory findings and other diagnostic data
Write orders
Write prescriptions
Implement attending physician instructions for patient management in close cooperation with staff
Perform procedures within the PA scope of practice and as directed by the attending physician (IUD insertion / Nexplanon insertion / endometrial biopsy / skin biopsy / incision and drainage / wound care)
Order and interpret appropriate laboratory testing and other special examinations as requested
Prepare succinct and accurate sign-out to facilitate the smooth transition of patient care from one PA to another PA or physician
Assist in making appropriate post hospitalization appointments and referrals
Communicate with referring health care providers and institutions
Routine gynecologic and obstetrical examinations

Requirements:

The physician assistant (PA) is a licensed provider who has acquired a broad range of knowledge and skills through the successful completion of a physician assistant program. We are also very open to hiring a licensed nurse practitioner.

Prefer 2 years recent experience as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner in a private practice or clinic setting; prefer specialized training in Women's Health (OB/GYN or Family Medicine)
Experience with Electronic Health Record systems and Medical Office software required (Athena and NextGen currently used)
American Heart Association CPR Certification required
Must have a strong commitment to patient care and customer service
Must have strong communication, conflict resolution, and trouble shooting skills, and a calm professional demeanor
Must have good multi-tasking skills, a positive attitude, calm professional demeanor, and ability to work in a fast paced team environment
Must demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing and follow verbal instructions and have strong attention to detail
Must have strong time management and organizational skills for keeping the flow of the office going smoothly
Open to working closely with owners to ensure the practice runs smoothly

Compensation: Salary based on experience. Paid time off, paid holidays and company sponsored group benefit plan for full time employees

Work Environment

Work settings include treatment rooms, and/or procedural areas. A large portion of the workday may be spent either standing or walking.

The PA may be exposed to potentially infectious bodily fluids, and sharp instruments such as needles and scalpels. Knowledge of Universal Precautions and proper use of surgical sharp instruments may be required. The consequences of contamination from bodily fluids or from being stuck with a sharp instrument include the possibility of physical harm to the employee or others. HM Medical is a fast paced, dynamic environment with a very large and complex patient volume; exposure to stress in the workplace is expected. The Physician Assistant does not have any supervisory responsibility.

Experience in conducting physical exams, diagnosing, and treating OB/GYN-related conditions
Ability to prescribe medications and manage patient care plans
Skills in assisting with surgeries and providing prenatal and postnatal care
Proficient in counseling patients on reproductive health and collaborating with healthcare teams
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Master's degree in Physician Assistant studies or related field
Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
Licensed to practice as a Physician Assistant in the state of California
Experience in OB/GYN practice settings is highly desirable
