Job Description:

JOB SUMMARY

The Clinic Receptionist (Reception - Admitting - Physician Services) works under the direction of hospital employed physicians and mid-level providers (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to provide quality patient care in the medical office setting. Accommodates patients, visitors, physicians, and physician staff by maintaining predetermined schedules. Maintains flexibility to comfortably accommodate all schedule changes.

EDUCATION

For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.

Minimum Required: None

Preferred/Optional: Post secondary courses in medical terminology, word processing and/or healthcare business.

EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

Minimum Required: Must have personality and demeanor to deal with the public and assist ill and well patients of all ages; exceptional organizational skills and ability to prioritize; strong work ethic to work in fast paced environment; and should remain flexible in changing demands of clinics. Must also possess good communication skills; deal effectively with people; maintain strict confidentiality; follow directions accurately; be able to work under varied and changing work conditions; maintain appropriate attitude, appearance, and professional behavior at all times; cooperate with others; desire to be part of the healthcare team; and have a sense of responsibility, initiative, and honesty and assures that provider base billing requirements are fulfilled. Uses EMR.

Preferred/Optional: Medical office setting or admitting clerk experience within the last 3 years. Preference will be given to those with EMR experience which includes, but is not limited to scanning, indexing and check in/out.
