Position Summary
This full-time (0.9 status or 36 hours per week) position will provide general nursing care for all patients in accordance with established standards, policies, procedures, licensure, and scope of practice. Will be required to work 12-hour rotating shifts with rotating weekends and holidays. Those with 20 years of combined experience at Prairie Lakes will be considered for a straight 12-hour day position and rotating holidays and weekends.
Wage: $32.00-$49.46
Responsibilities
Utilizes the nursing process in providing care and includes the process in documentation, identifying unusual conditions, and utilizing initiative and judgment to carry out appropriate responses.
Completes admission interviews and establishes nursing priorities with patient's plan of care.
Administers prescribed medications and treatments and patient-specific care to patients in accordance with approved nursing techniques.
Participates in patient care via an interdisciplinary team approach from admission to discharge.
Observes the patient, records significant conditions and reactions, and notifies the supervisor or Physician of the patient's condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents throughout the progression of care.
Follows medical treatment plan through execution of physician orders.
Initiates a patient education plan according to the individualized needs of the patient, as prescribed by the Physician and/or hospital policy including instruction to the patient, family, and others, as identified.
Completes annual competency skill testing.
Assists in training, supervision, and evaluation of nursing service personnel.
Other duties may be assigned.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education And/or Experience
Graduate of an accredited Registered Nurse Program. Previous experience is desirable.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Holds or is eligible for current licensure in the State of South Dakota.
