The University of Rochester Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology (UR Medicine)—the Upstate New York region’s only academic health system—invites an innovative mission-driven physician leader to serve as Chief/Division Director for Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (REI). The division has an active and growing clinical program with a strong academic portfolio as well as an ACGME accredited fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. The division has experienced outstanding growth with future plans of developing a new state of the ART IVF laboratory and clinical facility on the main campus of UR Medicine’s world-renowned academic medical center.
As Chief/Division Director, the candidate is expected to oversee our internationally recognized program which delivers comprehensive care for the region. Ideally, applicants should have demonstrated experience in leading teams and clinical operations in the practice of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. The Chief/Division Director will have responsibility for supervision and management of the REI faculty and staff, the clinical operations of the practice (IVF and non-IVF), the educational activities for learners at all levels, and research initiatives and NIH-funded research programs (both translational and clinical).

Additional services include oocyte/embryo cryopreservation, oncofertility, LGBTQ+ family building, recurrent pregnancy loss, preimplantation genetic testing, and male fertility.

The University of Rochester has an outstanding history of leadership in Nobel-winning breakthroughs, reproductive and biomedical research, and life-changing care for over 100 years, with outstanding contributions across the School of Medicine and multiple departments in the University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC). There is an opportunity for protected research time with growing departmental infrastructure to support this mission.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform clinical duties in the Reproductive Endocrine clinic including competency in Pelvic ultrasound performance and interpretation, Hysterosalpingogram completion and interpretation.
- Provide care in all clinical aspects of In-Vitro Fertilization Treatments.
- Competence in basic reproductive surgery and opportunity to work with Minimally Invasive Surgery group depending on the candidate’s interests.
- Teaching responsibilities include an active role in the training of medical students, residents, and fellows in all areas of Reproductive Endocrinology including participation in the formal curriculum.
- Provide local outreach to General OB/GYN physicians, including participation in local CME and education.
- Supervise residents and fellows in research projects based in Reproductive Endocrinology.
- Participate in national and international research in Reproductive Endocrinology depending on the candidate’s interests. There are numerous academic opportunities at the University of Rochester, including basic, translational & clinical research, supportive research infrastructure, and NIH-funded research programs.
- Lead teams and clinical operations in the practice of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility.
- Attend Department Grand Rounds, Division meetings, and other Departmental activities as requested.
Professional Qualifications
- MD, DO, MD/PhD, or DO/PhD degree and Active Board Certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility.
- Minimum (3) years of documented administrative experience in a director or similar physician leadership role. Prior leadership experience in a Reproductive Endocrinology Division.
- Possessing subspecialty expertise and training in REI and demonstrating clinical competence as a practicing physician is required.
- Eligibility for unrestricted New York State Medical License is required upon hire.
- Post offer Drug Screen and Health Assessment required.
- Compliance with University and New York State health requirements.
