Job Summary:
The Medical Assistant will act as direct medical support to providers with direct patient care in an ambulatory care clinic setting, while under the direct supervision of a physician and/or physician extender and a Clinical Supervisor. Required to perform various job functions from direct patient care, medical procedures, proper medication administration, documentation into Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and administrative support to providers and department while adhering to standards of care, following Hamilton Health Center policies, procedures, and protocols.

Essential Functions:
-
Review provider's schedule and compile patient list for team huddle.

Review Electronic Medical Record (EMR) using appropriate templates for patient preparation.

Check and notify providers of lab/diagnostic test results; obtain missing results if necessary.

Gather information for patients with recent ER visits, hospitalizations, or specialist visits to ensure continuity of care.

Identify needs of patients with chronic conditions and facilitate care coordination or additional HHC services.

Capture accurate medical history, vital signs, and document chief complaints in EMR.

Assist with routine or specialized procedures under the provider's direction, ensuring quality patient care.

Aid in medical examinations as directed by the provider.

Support patients in setting and monitoring goals, providing necessary information, and directing them to care coordinators or HHC services.

Track and communicate test results to relevant parties.

Assist with nurse scheduling, adapt to daily schedule changes, and support team members when required.

Maintain the cleanliness of rooms and reusable medical equipment following proper protocols.

Ensure adequate stock of medical supplies in exam rooms, adhering to storage and safety measures outlined by department and nursing leadership.

Practice safety, environmental, and infection control measures per protocol.

Maintain patient confidentiality as per HIPAA regulations and comply with OSHA, DOH, and Joint Commission standards.

Assist student employees as directed by management.

Familiarity with Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) principles to advise patients on available services at HHC.

Adherence to Hamilton Health Center policies including clinical, employee, and compliance policies.

Perform other assigned job-related duties as required.
Minimum Education/Certifications: High School diploma or equivalent and completion of an accredited medical assistant program, required. CMA, CCMA, or RMA certification is required or must be obtained within 6 months of hire. CPR Certified or able to obtain certification within 6 months of job placement.
Minimum Work Experience: Minimum of one year of experience working in a professional medical, administrative, or physician office setting, preferred.
