As a Genetic Counselor on our Prenatal team, you will provide comprehensive risk assessment, education, and support to patients who are pregnant or planning a pregnancy, as well as to individuals and families affected by or at risk for genetic conditions. You will join a team of 35+ genetic counselors and work alongside approximately 20 maternal-fetal medicine specialists in the Ob/Gyn and Women’s Health Institute. In this role, you will take patient medical and family histories, coordinate genetic testing, interpret results, and communicate findings to patients and referring providers. You will see patients both in person and virtually, reviewing testing options, discussing results, collaborating with clinicians to coordinate testing, and contributing to projects that optimize genetic testing workflows. Additionally, you will serve as an educator for trainees, patients, and healthcare professionals, and contribute to research initiatives in medical genetics and genetic counseling.
This position offers the opportunity to work independently and take ownership of projects while receiving support from an experienced team. A caregiver in this position works a hybrid schedule from 8:00 a.m. -- 5:00 p.m.
This role is primarily based at Main Campus with two clinic days per week (or half-day clinics) and one day in a regional clinic. Flexible remote work arrangements are available for certain tasks for team members based in the Cleveland, Ohio area with relocation assistance provided.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
- Perform genetic counseling functions in accordance with the Scope of Practice established by the American Board of Genetic Counseling.
- Provide genetic counseling services to patients/families with a known or suspected genetic disorder.
- Coordinate genetic testing and disclose results to patients and/or providers.
- Complete documentation for patient care.
- Become familiar with the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Build time management skills to balance workload and responsibilities.
- Maintain compliance with IRB and department research standards.
- Demonstrate familiarity with current literature.
- Contribute to research projects, abstracts, or manuscripts.
- Become familiar with the department’s educational materials.
- Present at case conferences, journal clubs, or similar meetings.
- Supervise genetic counseling for students during rotations.
- Provide lectures and presentations to trainees and other medical professionals.
- Contribute to educational programs.
- Attend multidisciplinary care meetings, grand rounds and/or tumor board meetings.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- Master’s Degree from an accredited genetic counseling training program
- Certified or certification-eligible from American Board of Genetic Counseling
- Must obtain ABGC certification within one year of date of hire
- Licensed or license-eligible from Ohio Medical Board
- Clinical rotations as part of genetic counseling training program
- Will consider applicants who have not yet completed their training
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- Interest and/or expertise in prenatal genetics

Pay Range
Minimum Annual Salary: $52,270.00
Maximum Annual Salary: $79,727.50
