Midwife / Women's Care of Wood County / Full Time
The Midwife is to provide comprehensive, evidence-based midwifery care to women in an inpatient and outpatient/office setting across the reproductive lifespan. The midwife delivers high-quality care that includes health promotion, disease prevention, prenatal and postpartum management, family planning, and gynecologic services. In collaboration with patients and members of the healthcare team, the midwife fosters shared decision-making, emphasis patient education and ensures continuity of care. This role supports a holistic and patient centered approach consistent with philosophy and standard of midwifery practice. Midwife is an onsite position.
Essential Functions
- Assess women’s health across the lifespan by conducting comprehensive and focused health history, physical exams, and screening in an outpatient and inpatient setting to inform individualized midwifery care
- Diagnose and manage common gynecologic conditions, normal pregnancy progress and early identification of complication by interpreting clinical findings, lab results, and patient concerns.
- Develop collaborative care plans with the doctors that support wellness, disease prevention, prenatal care and reproductive health, aligning with the woman’s values and evidence-based midwifery practices.
- Implement outpatient and inpatient midwifery services by providing prenatal and postnatal visits, gynecologic care, family planning and monitor and assist women to the Labor and birthing process according to med staff privileges.
- Evaluate patient outcomes through follow up visits, monitoring of treatment plans and reassessment of care goals modifying interventions as necessary in collaboration with the woman.
- Collaborate and refer to appropriate health care providers by recognizing conditions beyond midwifery scope, initiating co-management when needed and ensuring smooth transition of care while maintaining a supportive presence.
- Prepare, prevent, protect and respond to support our culture of safety.
- Works hours per week in accordance with offer letter or per attributes of position at transfer request. May be expected to work longer hours as necessary.

Requirements
Education:
- Diploma Nurse or ADN from an accredited school of nursing
- Master’s degree in Nurse Midwifery from an accredited program
License
- Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio
- Nurse Midwife in State of Ohio
Experience
- 2 years midwifery
- Participation in a cesarean section first assist course
Certification
- BLS
- NRP
- Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education (ACME)
- American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB) or actively seeking initial certification
Hours: Full Time / 40 hours per week
