Birmingham Women’s Hospital is seeking an inspirational Lead Midwife for Professional Practice and Professional Midwifery Advocates (PMA) to join our forward-thinking maternity leadership team.
This pivotal role will lead our Professional Practice Team, driving excellence in education, workforce development and advocacy across maternity services. You will provide strategic leadership to our Professional Midwifery Advocates, embedding the AEQUIP model and ensuring that professional practice, learning, and wellbeing are at the heart of how we deliver safe and outstanding care.
As a senior leader, you will play a key role in our Trust-wide culture improvement programme, aligning staff engagement, leadership behaviours and workforce development to our shared vision and values. You will champion a culture that is inclusive, supportive and focused on collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement.

Based at Birmingham Women’s Hospital site, with a need for visibility amongst clinical and operational teams.
The post holder will be responsible for the leadership and operational management of the Professional Practice Team, working collaboratively with the maternity Governance Team to drive the maternity safety agenda. They will have direct line management responsibility for their team, as outlined in the organisational structure chart.
The post holder will participate in the operational manager on-call rota for BWC (site based).
