Maria Fertility sees anywhere from 1300-1500 patients per day and is responsible for over 20,000 egg retrievals per year.
What is the Registered Nurse (RN) Role
The IVF Nurse works collaboratively with the clinical team members to provide compassionate, patient-focused care.
Responsibilities
- Provide emotional/compassionate support to patients through their fertility journey.
- Counsel patients through fertility treatment after consultation with the physician and fertility team.
- Assists fertility team in assuring that all appropriate consents are sent to patient and are returned in a timely manner.
- Coordinate and develop care for assigned physicians’ In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF), Embryo Transfer (ET/FET), Egg Vitrification and Mock Cycle patients.
- Coordinate patient’s timeline, calendar and protocol. Will provide knowledgeable answers to patient’s questions regarding their cycle and calendar.
- Provide fertility education including but not limited to medication teaching and diagnostic testing.
- Ensure that all required labs/diagnostic testing is completed within designated time frame in accordance to FDA/CDC guidelines.
- Contact patients with appropriate instructions per physician’s direction.
- Perform routine patient assessment as necessary (i.e., height weight, vital signs).
- Responsible for detailed and accurate documentation in patient’s chart
- Review patient’s chart to identify potential medical problems which require evaluation prior to proceeding with fertility treatment.
- Perform phlebotomy and IV cannulation
- Responsible to triage phone calls/portal messages and provide instructions per patient’s treatment plan.
- Perform pre-op assessments and post-op monitoring
- Coordinate OR schedule with the anesthesia group and embryology department. Provide patients with pre-op and post-op instructions.
- Assure that all required documentation is completed for SART data reporting.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations and calling for assistance from other health care support personnel when appropriate.
- Protects patients and employees by adhering to HIPPA, infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Current Registered Nurse license in the State of New York
- Experience in Fertility & OB/GYN preferred, but not required
- BLS and ACLS Certification
- Experienced in EMR and MS Office
- Strong communication skills
- Detail oriented
- Strong customer service skills and professionalism
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $75,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
