Nurse Midwife - Montefiore Bronx Health Collective
The Nurse Midwife upholds the standards of nursing practice as defined by the American Nurses Association Code of Ethics, Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice, and Nursing’s Social Policy Statement. This role embodies the vision, mission, values, and balanced scorecard performance measures of Montefiore Medical Center. The Nurse Midwife participates in performance improvement and research activities, maintains professional practice standards and clinical expertise, and demonstrates strong leadership skills. Core and unit-specific competencies are exhibited based on the patient population served. The Nurse Midwife assumes full responsibility for the care and management of essentially healthy women in accordance with the midwifery practice agreement and institutional practice privileges, while also participating in educational activities for healthcare students and contributing to research initiatives.
EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE
- Current New York State license as a Registered Nurse.
- Current New York Midwifery License.
- Certification for prescriptive rights by NYS Department of Education
- Participation in ACNM Continuing Competency Programs.
- Baccalaureate Degree and Master's Degree plus satisfactory registered professional nurse experience.
- Five (5) years of satisfactory clinical nurse-midwifery experience may be substituted for a Master's Degree.

Hours Monday to Friday 0900A - 0530P
Location: 890 Prospect Avenue
Associates are eligible to apply for a lateral transfer after completion of one (1) year of service in their present position, with the following exception: an Associate who has received a written warning is not eligible for a transfer/promotion prior to six (6) months from date of issuance; an Associate who has been suspended is not eligible for transfer/promotion prior to one (1) year from date of suspension. Part-time Associates who have completed their probationary period can move to full-time vacancies within their department provided such movement will not unreasonably reduce the operational efficiency of that department. Probationary period is three (3) months for full-time employees, and four (4) months for part-time employees who works more than 3/5 of the normal workweek.
