Labor and Delivery Nurse
As a Labor and Delivery Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care to expectant mothers during one of the most transformative experiences of their lives. You will work in a dynamic environment, collaborating with a dedicated team to ensure safe and positive childbirth experiences. Your expertise will be essential in monitoring patients, assisting with deliveries, and providing education and support to families.
What you’ll do
- Monitor the health and progress of laboring patients, assessing vital signs and fetal heart rates.
 - Assist with labor management, including administering medications and IV infusions as needed.
 - Collaborate closely with physicians and midwives to facilitate smooth delivery processes.
 - Provide emotional support and education to patients and families throughout the labor journey.
 - Perform necessary procedures such as suturing, catheterization, and airway management when required.
 - Maintain accurate medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA standards.
 - Participate in triage assessments to prioritize care for incoming patients.
 - Engage in continuous education on best practices in obstetrics and neonatal care.
 
Basic qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
 - Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
 
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
 - Familiarity with ICD-10 coding and medical terminology related to labor and delivery.
 - Previous experience in a Level I or Level II Trauma Center or teaching hospital setting.
 - Knowledge of acute pain management techniques and infection control protocols.
 - Experience working with diverse populations, including those with developmental disabilities or special needs.
