The Registered Nurse (RN) that works in the RAH Pediatric Medical Special Clinic (Ambulatory) is the front-line representative in delivering health services. The Pediatric Clinic works with high-risk, medically complex children from socially complex families. The focus of the RN’s practice is to provide the nursing component of the Pediatric Clinic’s high quality, comprehensive, and integrated health services to individuals, families, groups, and the community. This includes providing and facilitating individuals and team efforts, counseling children, adolescents and their families, assessment, treatment, prevention of illness and injury, educational and health promotion activities, screening measures, referrals and evaluations as appropriate. The RN will be required to provide services and coverage to all of the Ambulatory Clinic areas. The RN will support and actively participate in program development, research, and clinical teaching activities. The RN is innovative, enthusiastic and possesses excellent communication organizational, interpersonal, leadership and computer skills. The RN must be committed to provision of nursing care in accordance with CRNA standards and the Stollery hospital policies and procedures.
Description:
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. Additional Required Qualifications:
Current registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Working knowledge/experience in early intervention for maternal-child health, general pediatrics, behavioral pediatrics and/or child/adolescent mental health is required. Experience with Electronic Medical Records including Connect Care scheduling, in basket management and pools and general computer skills required. Telephone assessment and Triage experience required. Strong critical thinking, problem solving skills and organizational skills required. Three to five years’ recent experience in pediatric acute care and/or ambulatory pediatrics is required. Previous charge nurse training and experience required. Proven ability to work positively, effectively, and cooperatively within a clinic environment. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced ambulatory environment within a family-centered care model is essential. Must successfully pass the Stollery Medication Administration exam with 90% or more. Must be able to lift, pull, and push up to 50 lbs. Must be able to stand/walk for extended periods (up to 3 hours without a break).
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in nursing. PEARS and/or PALS would be an asset.
