Job Summary
MSG is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Research Assistant to join our growing team of Modern Scientists (biostatisticians, epidemiologists, health economists, analysts, researchers). The Research Assistant will have the opportunity to assist on projects related to maternal, newborn, child health and nutrition in low- and middle-income countries. The RA will support the team through activities that could include literature reviews, aggregating data, support with drafting reports and manuscripts, and will work collaboratively with other scientists.
Individuals will be able to work remotely, with regular engagement with the rest of the team at MSG through virtual office hours.
Qualifications
The research assistant should possess the following qualifications and skills:
- Undergraduate or graduate degree from a health-related program, for example: biostatistics, or epidemiology.
- Exposure to public health and nutrition in their studies, global health topics, health systems in low- and middle-income countries.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication (oral and written) and organizational skills.
- Detail-oriented, with excellent analytical thinking skills, a propensity to take initiative and a demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment.
- The ability to produce high-quality, accurate work in a timely way, and in accordance with project deadlines.
- Excellent teamwork skills and a demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with team members and liaise with study investigators.
Prior experience in the following areas is an asset:
- Prior experience in work related to nutrition, and/or global public health.
- Experience with conducting systematic and scoping literature reviews, and summarizing evidence.
- Excellent written communication skills, and a strong knowledge of scientific writing, preferably with experience in publishing manuscripts in a peer-reviewed journal.
Start Date: Immediate
Duration: 6 months with the possibility of extension
