As a School Nurse, you’ll ensure students are healthy, safe, and ready to learn. Working alongside teachers, therapists, and families, you’ll provide essential medical support and help create a caring, inclusive school environment.
What You'll Need
- Current Virginia license as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
- Minimum of two years’ nursing experience working with children (preferred)
- Valid Virginia Driver’s License
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Ability to remain calm, compassionate, and organized in fast-paced situations
What You'll Do
- Provide first aid, manage medical emergencies, and coordinate with families, EMS, and physicians
- Maintain student medical records, physicals, and immunizations in compliance with regulations
- Develop and implement Individualized Health Plans in collaboration with families and healthcare providers
- Administer medications safely, train staff on emergency medications, and document all administrations
- Monitor infection control procedures and communicate illness updates with families and health departments
