Position Summary
The Scheduler is responsible for answering calls to the clinic and scheduling gastroenterology (GI) procedures and office appointments. Communication with staff in all departments is paramount in this position, ensuring that proper care is provided to patients. This position provides patients with information so they can fully utilize and benefit from the clinical services.
What You Will Be Doing
- Answers patient calls to the clinic and schedules appointments applicable to the practice.
- Review the patient's medications and health history to determine pre-admission testing.
- Ensures that scheduling updates, cancellations, or additions are entered timely.
- Schedules GI procedures and office appointments.
- Maintaining the Referral Box includes reviewing referrals, checking insurance and demographics, and calling patients to schedule.
- Review the anesthesia schedule two weeks out and review the procedure schedule a couple of days out to ensure gaps are filled. Calls patients to arrange schedules appropriately.
What You Will Bring To The Team
- Two years experience in the medical field and gastroenterology experience
- Specific assisting tasks related to the particular medical practice
- Appropriate information to convey to patients and families
- Healthcare field and medical office protocols/procedures
- Current blood-borne pathogen and bio-hazardous waste procedures as they apply to the duties of this position
- Bilingual-Spanish and English
