General Summary of Duties:Responsible for assisting patients and staff in understanding the financial aspect of treatment cycles and services at NCFMC. Serves as a resource, with information as it related to treatment costs for patients, staff, and physicians. Performs treatment cycle audit processes.
Essential Functions:
- Meets with patients to discuss costs associated with the medical plan of care; includes diagnostic testing, medications and cycle fees.

Calculates the patient’s financial responsibility, taking into consideration any insurance benefits or approved discounts.

Obtain authorizations and discuss cycle fee due dates with patients for IUI and IVF cycles.

Completion of patient follow-up letters summarizing the treatment plan fees.
- Performance of post-cycle audits on all insurance and third party cycles to determine that all services have been posted and paid. Submits patient refund requests as needed.

Notification to patients of their past due cycle fees.

Notification to patients of their account balances following cancelled cycle, after posting for services rendered.

Assists Billing and Insurance Coordinators on financial/insurance related issues.

Updates financial flowsheets with cycle fee information.

Ensures NCFMC website has up to date information.

Back up to front office, as needed.

Completing IUI tasks from medical staff to include required authorizations and posting patient fees.

Other duties as assigned
Experience: Minimum three years of managed care experience in a health care organization; preferably with OB/Gyn background.
Education: High School diploma required. Bachelor degree in health or business administration preferred.
Knowledge:

Knowledge of clinic policies and procedures.

Knowledge of billing, insurance and coding requirements.

Knowledge of computer systems, programs, and applications.

Ability to identify and analyze potential cycle payment problems.

Working understanding of fertility procedures, CPT codes used in an OB/Gyn environment and ability to effectively communicate coverage and cost to patients.

Ability to examine medical documents for accuracy and completeness.

Ability to communicate effectively and clearly.
