Job Description
The Instructor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology supports undergraduate medical education through clinical skills teaching, simulation-based instruction, and assessment coordination. The role integrates teaching, academic support, and applied research coordination within the department and aligns with CMHS educational policies and the UAEU vision of excellence in women’s health education. Key Responsibilities 1. Clinical and Educational Duties
- Conduct structured clinical skills sessions for preclinical and clerkship medical students, including obstetrics, gynecological, and general clinical procedures.
- Serve as OSCE and Mini-CEX examiner, ensuring objective, standardized evaluation.
- Develop, pilot, and review clinical case scenarios and assessment rubrics for OSCE/Minicex stations in coordination with faculty.
- Act as PBL (Problem-Based Learning) instructor in the urogenital and women’s health modules.
- Supervise and evaluate student performance in simulated and real clinical environments, providing feedback and remediation plans for red-flag students.
- Maintain assessment confidentiality and manage e-assessment tools (e.g., Blackboard, Speedwell).
- Deliver simulation-based teaching using low- and high-fidelity manikins to reinforce safe clinical practice.
- Participate in the community outreach and health-promotion programs of the department. 2. Academic and Research Support
- Coordinate and monitor departmental research activities following CMHS research ethics and policy frameworks.
- Support faculty and student research projects related to obstetrics, gynecology, nursing, and interprofessional collaboration.
- Contribute to the preparation of educational and research manuscripts and conference abstracts. 3. Student Mentoring and Advising
- Serve as academic advisor for OB/Gyn clerkship students, identifying at-risk learners and implementing support interventions.
- Promote professionalism, teamwork, and interprofessional communication in all student interactions. 4. Educational Resource Development
- Design, review, and update learning materials, practical guides, and e-modules for clinical and preclinical teaching.
- Ensure alignment of all teaching materials with ACGME-I, CMHS, and UAEU curriculum outcomes. 5. Administrative and Quality Roles
- Support course coordination, data entry, and evaluation logistics within the department.
- Participate in quality assurance and accreditation processes (CAA, LCME, ACGME-I).
- Document teaching activities, student evaluations, and feedback in compliance with departmental standards.
Minimum Qualification
Relevant postgraduate qualification in Nursing, Health Sciences, or a related clinical education field at least master’s degree.
- Valid professional licensure in the UAE or home country.
- Recognized certification(s) in life support, simulation-based education, or clinical teaching (preferred).
- Valid 4-5 years experience in undergraduate/postgraduate and public education.
