Position: Sonographer - Obstetrics & Gynecology
Employment: Full-time, Monday- Friday variable hours

Sonographer Job Summary: Responsible for the independent operation of sonographic equipment and for performing and communicating results of diagnostic examinations using sonography. Meet and exceed patient expectations and adhere to established practices while assuring the best possible care for patients.
Sonographer Responsibilities:
- Performs clinical assessment and diagnostic sonography examinations to include anatomy scans.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, human anatomy and physiology, especially in the areas related to Obstetrics and Gynecology.
- Performs all requested sonographic examinations as ordered by the attending physicians.
- Prepares preliminary reports
- Uses cognitive sonographic skills to identify, record, and adapt procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, diagnostic information and images.
- Analyzes sonograms, synthesizes sonographic information and medical history, and communicates findings to the appropriate physician.
- Assumes responsibility for the safety, mental and physical comfort of patients while they are in the sonographers care.
- Ensures all required documentation, requisitions, forms, charges, and patient's medical record are completed. Completes all written and computer documentation in a timely manner.
- Maintains ultrasound equipment, work area, and supplies. Communicate with Clinic Manager regarding any needs to ensure equipment is in proper order.
- Promote quality patient care and customer satisfaction
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Adhere to all OSHA guidelines.
- May be required to float to other local clinics on rare occasions
- May require occasional overtime
Skills, Education, & Experience for Sonographer:
- Associates Degree of Applied Science (Radiology or Nursing) or Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing, Radiology or Sonography AND/OR Graduate of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Programs that is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs.
- Active certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
- Current compliance with Continuing Medical Education (CME) requirements.
- Prefer two years Obstetrics and Gynecology experience.
- Excellent communications skills (written and verbal) as well as listening skills.
- Demonstrates critical thinking skills and decisive judgment.
- Athena EMR experience is a plus.
- Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
- Current CPR certification required.
Physical/Mental Abilities:
- Ability to effectively operate sonographic equipment
- Ability to evaluate sonograms in order to acquire appropriate diagnostic information.
- Ability to integrate diagnostic sonograms, laboratory results, patient history and medical records, and adapt sonographic examinations as necessary.
- Ability to use independent judgment to acquire the optimum diagnostic sonographic information in each examination performed.
- Ability to evaluate, synthesize, and communicate diagnostic information to the attending physicians.
- Ability to communicate effectively with the patient and the health care team, recognizing the special nature of the sonographic examinations and patient's needs.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public and health care team.
- Ability to follow established departmental procedures.
- Must be able to handle difficult situations in a professional manner and maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to work independently to perform job with minimal supervision.
- Ability to perform work that requires frequent standing, bending, squatting, kneeling, moving, lifting of patients and/or equipment up to 50lbs.
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task.
- Ability to handle high patient volume.
- High attention to detail
- Ability to demonstrate compassion and caring for patients and families.
Work Environment:
- Work is performed in a professional healthcare setting.
- This position operates in an office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and filing cabinets.
- Possible exposure to communicable diseases, blood-borne pathogens, and toxic substances in the work environment.

Salary: $30.00 - $38.00 per hour depending on experience

License/Certification:
- BLS Certification
- Certified Sonographer as described above.
