Position Purpose
The Embryologist plays a critical role in providing high-quality IVF laboratory services, supporting the clinical team and patients with precision, care, and scientific expertise.
This role is suited to an experienced and motivated Embryologist who brings strong attention to detail, critical thinking, and a desire to contribute to a collaborative team environment. You will help drive the success of our laboratory programs while continuously adapting to new technologies and evidence-based protocols in reproductive science.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform a full range of IVF laboratory procedures including oocyte retrieval, embryo culture, ICSI, and embryo transfer preparation
- Conduct cryopreservation techniques including oocyte and embryo freezing using vitrification
- Undertake quality control, laboratory maintenance, and equipment calibration in accordance with accreditation standards
- Contribute to the ongoing development and implementation of laboratory protocols and procedures
- Ensure meticulous documentation and data entry to support accurate reporting and compliance
- Participate in case discussions and work collaboratively with the broader clinical and patient services team
- Maintain high standards of hygiene, sterility, and lab safety procedures
- Support biopsy services if appropriately trained (highly regarded)
- Contribute to weekend and public holiday rosters as required
Key Criteria
- Minimum 3 years’ clinical embryology experience, with demonstrated skills in ICSI, embryo culture, oocyte/embryo vitrification and associated techniques
- Tertiary qualifications in biological or medical science; postgraduate qualifications in reproductive science are desirable
- Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and a commitment to laboratory precision and compliance
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team
- Professional affiliation with relevant bodies (e.g. FSA, SIRT) and willingness to participate in weekend and public holiday rosters
