Summary:
- This role involves delivering rapid, high-quality care to patients in critical and life-threatening situations while working collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and assess pregnant patients throughout labor and delivery.
- Provide support and education to patients and families during prenatal, intrapartum, and postpartum stages.
- Administer medications, IVs, and epidurals as needed.
- Assist physicians during labor and delivery procedures.
- Care for newborns immediately after birth.
- Manage emergencies such as preterm labor, fetal distress, and postpartum hemorrhage.
- Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation.
- Follow hospital policies, infection control, and safety protocols.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for optimal outcomes.
Requirements:
- Licenses/Certifications: BLS, NRP, and ACLS certification (required or preferred).
- Experience: Strong OBS background required.
- License: Active provincial license (Newfoundland preferred).
- Minimum [2+] years of experience in obstetrics, labor & delivery, or maternal-child health.
