As a Band 7 Sonographer at UCLH, you’ll play a key role in delivering high-quality diagnostic ultrasound services across a wide variety of clinical presentations. You will manage a diverse caseload of patients, often with complex conditions, and contribute directly to accurate and timely diagnosis. Alongside clinical practice, you will supervise and support students, junior sonographers and colleagues, helping to shape the future workforce. This is a great opportunity to join one of the UK’s leading teaching hospitals, where you’ll work with cutting-edge technology, contribute to continuous service improvement, and be part of a supportive and innovative team committed to patient-centred care.
You will perform a wide range of specialised ultrasound procedures, adapting techniques for patients with complex needs and ensuring the highest standards of image quality and reporting. You’ll liaise with referrers, radiologists and other clinicians, acting as a point of expert advice on ultrasound imaging. In addition, you’ll supervise and mentor junior staff and students, contribute to audit and governance activities, and support departmental service development. The role requires strong clinical judgement, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
