Job Summary
Measham Medical Unit have an opening for a fixed-term part-time Practice Nurse to provide cover for one of our valued colleagues who is currently away from the practice.
The position is for 10 hours per week and can be worked over one, or two days at the end of the week to suit the successful candidates preference.
We are looking for an experienced practice nurse who is confident and comfortable in managing long-term conditions as well as delivering treatment room services. You will be well supported by your nursing colleagues and the wider multi-disciplinary team.
Salary will be dependent on the experience of the successful candidate.
Main duties of the job
- The purpose of this post is the delivery of high quality primary care nursing services to the Practice population. You will work with Practice policies, protocols and guidelines whilst using experience and clinical judgement to provide nurse interventions and care.
- Working within the NMC code the post holder will deliver care that is evidence based and cost effective.
- To be responsive to patients needs and contribute to improving quality standards.
- Work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary General Practice team to meet the needs of the patients.

Measham Medical Unit is a well-established friendly, supportive and forward thinking GP practice based on the outskirts of North West Leicestershire. We are dedicated to providing safe, high quality and patient focussed care to our patient population of 15,800 residing in North West Leicestershire, Staffordshire, Derbyshire and Warwickshire.
We have a large clinical team comprising of 6 GP Partners, Salaried GPs, ANP, ACP, Physician Assistants, Clinical Pharmacists, Practice Nurses, HCAs and Student Nurse Associate.
The clinical team are supported by management and administration teams who have a wealth of knowledge and experience.
We are a Dispensing Practice and dispense to around almost half of the practice population.

Primary Key Responsibilities
The following are the core responsibilities of the Practice Nurse. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks. This will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:
Clinical:
- To work independently and accepting professional accountability within the scope of your clinical practice and expertise.
- To assess the needs of patients ensuring the provision of healthcare is appropriate, incorporating evidence-based practice
- To implement and evaluate individual treatment plans for chronic disease patients that promote health and wellbeing
- Sign post effectively to other clinicians and agencies when appropriate
- Promote health and well-being through the use of health promotion, health education and screening
- Apply infection control measures in all areas of practice
- As required, to provide routine nursing care to patients in accordance with clinical based evidence, NICE and the NSF
- Undertake clinics and offer focused lifestyle advice in line with local, national guidance and Quality Outcomes Framework indicators

- Maintain accurate and contemporaneous records using the SystmOne computer system.
