Scope:
The US-based International Genetic Counselor supports the delivery of preimplantation genetic testing (PGT) services to international patients by providing expert genetic counselling, managing cases from initiation to completion, and collaborating with internal teams and external clients, with a particular focus on clinics and referred patients residing outside the Americas region. Responsibilities include patient counselling, case coordination, clinic support, and participation in team meetings, training, and research initiatives.
Job Summary:
As a member of the global genetic counselling team, the International Genetic Counselor utilizes their genetics expertise and awareness of global PGT regulations to support delivery of preimplantation genetic testing (PGT) services, including aneuploidy screening (PGT-A), single gene (PGT-M), and chromosome rearrangements (PGT-SR), to patients located across the globe. Key participant in improvement of delivered PGT counselling product and departmental contributions to broader CooperSurgical organization.
Essential Functions & Accountabilities:
Focused laboratory genetic counselling for referred PGT cases from international clients in APAC, LATAM and EMEA
Manages international PGT cases from initiation through test completion; including case acceptance review and case coordination with laboratory operations and client services departments; collaborates with Senior and/or Lead GC on counselling for complex PGT cases
Counsels patients regarding PGT-M, PGT-SR, and PGT-A test procedures, risks, benefits, and limitations
Documents patient encounters in appropriate internal systems as well as customized external client and patient-facing letters
Handles internal processing of PGT documents returned by external consultant genetic Counselors
Assists international clinics, patient and larger CooperSurgical organization with routine questions/issues regarding referred PGT cases and CooperSurgical PGT processes
Delivers customer feedback and measurements of genetic counselling quality metrics to Senior/Lead GC or manager
Participation in genetic counselling meetings, training events and other group initiatives, as directed by manager
Participation in clinical and broader genetic counselling research projects as directed by manager
Travel:
Occasional (<10%) need for domestic and/or international travel
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of and proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Outlook
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
High level of interpersonal skills to interact with patients, customers, peers and management in a compassionate and professional manner
Strong attention to detail in composing and proofing materials
Excellent organizational skills
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
Ability to work well both independently, with little supervision, and in a team setting
Work Environment:
- Remote setting; must have private home office space available

Education:
Master’s degree in Genetic Counseling or similar field from an American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) accredited institution, or its international equivalent
Board registered/ board eligible standing with the ABGC, or its equivalent

For U.S. locations that require disclosure of compensation, the starting base pay for this role is between $95,000.00 - $100,000.00 annually. The actual base pay includes many factors and is subject to change and modification in the future. This position may also be eligible for other types of compensation and benefits.
