The Financial Counselor for Fertility Services plays a key role in supporting patients through the financial aspects of fertility treatment. This position provides financial guidance, cost estimates, insurance verification, and payment plan options. The counselor serves as a liaison between the patient, clinic staff, and insurance companies to ensure transparency and minimize financial barriers to care.
Meet with patients either in person or via phone to explain the financial aspects of fertility treatment.
Provide detailed cost estimates based on treatment plans, including IVF, IUI, Egg Freezing.
Verify insurance benefits.
Explain insurance coverage, out-of-pocket costs, and financial responsibilities in clear, compassionate terms.
Assist patients in navigating financial assistance programs, discount programs, and third-party financing options.
Collaborate with billing department to resolve discrepancies and ensure accurate invoicing.
Stay current on changes in insurance policies, fertility mandates, and financing options.
Maintain accurate and confidential financial records for each patient.
Ensure patients are fully informed of financial obligations before treatment begins.
Provide exceptional customer service and support to patients during emotionally sensitive treatment journeys.
EducationExperience:
Minimum 2 years of experience in medical billing, financial counseling, or patient financial services, preferably in a fertility, OB/GYN, or specialty clinic setting.
Experience with insurance verification and benefits explanation, especially related to fertility coverage.
Skills:
Strong understanding of fertility treatment protocols and associated costs.
Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) and billing systems.
Excellent communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
Empathy and sensitivity in working with patients undergoing fertility treatments.
