Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Laboratory Technician to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in laboratory procedures and techniques, with a keen understanding of quality control and compliance with FDA regulations. This role is essential in supporting research and development efforts, ensuring accurate data collection, and maintaining high standards of laboratory practices.
Responsibilities
❖Endocrinology
•Perform pre-analytical processing according to laboratory protocols.
•Perform testing according to laboratory protocol.
➢Preparation of blood samples to be analyzed.
➢Calibration of instrument.
➢Perform quality control according to laboratory protocol.
➢Record and log daily, weekly and monthly maintenance of all instruments.
•Report results following laboratory’s protocol.
•Accurately perform proficiency testing.
•Adhere to laboratory’s QC program and follow laboratory’s corrective actions.
•Backup for checking and ordering supplies for endocrinology.
•Backup for blood tests with Roche E-411, and report to senior technologist if bias and error exist.
❖Andrology
•Perform daily QC, clean and organize working place if applicable.
•Check LN2 tank and refill LN2 if applicable.
•Check MyAlert alarm system if applicable.
•Record and maintain all andrology paperwork and forms if applicable.
•Record and maintain sperm cryopreservation log, discard sperm samples when applicable.
•Patient reception and communication.
•Perform andrology proficiency testing as required by AAB.
•Perform semen analysis, semen cryopreservation and IVF related sperm preparation.
•Adherence to all protocols to maintain quality control.
❖Embryology
•Prepare daily schedule.
•Perform daily QC.
•Assistant update and maintain records.
•Responsible for accurate and correctly entering data into eIVF.
•Prepare culture dishes.
•Prepare IVF and OR media.
•Clean and autoclave laboratory supplies.
•Maintain embryology laboratory ordering system, backup for checking and ordering supplies for endocrinology and andrology.
•Check arrival of laboratory supplies and record storage.
•Receiving and transporting sperm samples.
•Assistant for receiving and transporting embryo samples.
•Packaging and shipping biopsy samples.
•Adherence to all protocols to maintain quality control.
•Close patient’s account in embryo option when no cryopreservation in storage.
❖Transports and Cryo Management
•Manage cryo transports (transferring in and out)
•Assist with compliance efforts with local, state and federal regulations, such as SART and FDA
•Assist with additional administrative tasks in andrology, embryology, and the OR as needed
•Manage all cryopreservation needs frozen specimens
Skills
- Proficiency in laboratory techniques including molecular biology, histology, and microbiology.
- Strong understanding of animal physiology and veterinary terminology.
- Experience with industrial or clinical laboratory environments is preferred.
- Familiarity with FDA regulations and quality control processes.
- Excellent analytical skills for data collection and interpretation.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment while managing multiple tasks.
- Strong math skills for precise calculations related to experiments and analyses.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating with colleagues and presenting findings. Pay: $60,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
