The Challenge (Job Summary)
As an OBGYN ultrasound technologist, you have the opportunity to live our core values every day by helping our patients in all walks of life, providing high quality care, working with an excellent team, being a trusted resource for our patients and team members, and having an impact in the community through our engagement and volunteer efforts. In addition, the ideal candidate will be responsible for performing Obstetrics and Gynecology Ultrasound exams and related duties. Work is performed in accordance with NOMS policies and procedures/applicable federal and state laws. Effective performance requires independent action under general supervision.
Your Day To Day & Essential Functions
- Complies with HIPAA and OSHA rules and regulations.
- Prepares patients for Ultrasound procedures. Takes Ultrasound images following established guidelines and procedures for patient care and safety.
- Ensures equipment is in working order.
- Logs Ultrasound procedures completed. Processes related paperwork using computer equipment as directed.
- Maintains and cleans examination room. Stocks necessary medical and Ultrasound supplies.
- Processes Ultrasound images to QC station.
- Prints exams to CD/film when required.
- Completes necessary worksheet/history forms and sends to Radiologist.
- Sends images to Radiologist for interpretation and to archival system for storage.
- Other duties as assigned.
What You Need To Succeed (Competencies, Education)
- American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (RDMS) Certification
- Current CPR certification
- Required to maintain CE requirements
- OB/GYN certification required within 90 days.
- Graduate of accredited Ultrasound Program.
- Minimum of two years’ experience preferred
- Knowledge of procedures and protocols.
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology necessary to perform testing including body mechanics and patient movement.
- Knowledge of equipment including safety hazards common to equipment.
- Knowledge of printing exams to CD/film
- Working knowledge of PACS system and CD burner
- Knowledge of sending and storing images.
- Skill in positioning patients properly.
- Skill in identifying equipment problems and correcting or notifying supervisor.
- Ability to apply written instructions and standardized work practices.
- Ability to communicate clearly.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff, Physicians, patients, and families.

Working Conditions & Physical Demands: Combination of office and exam setting. Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a radiology department. Varied activities including standing, walking, reaching, bending, and lifting. Requires full range of body motion including assisting patients, manual and finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination. Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours.
