The Physician Assistant (PA) is a licensed provider. The PA is responsible for the assessment and management of various populations of patients, medical and/or surgical, including diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, development of appropriate plans of care and ongoing evaluation.

Essential Functions
- Provides direct care, counseling, and teaching to a designated patient population in the ambulatory, inpatient, operative, and/or procedural setting.
- Performs complete histories and physical examinations.
- Orders, interprets, and evaluates appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests.
- Develops appropriate plans of care and follow-up based on the outcomes of diagnostic, laboratory, and physical examination findings.
- Orders medications and writes prescriptions according to organizational and regulatory policies and procedures.
- Consistently provides high quality and timely documentation including admission and progress notes, procedure notes, operative notes and discharge summaries.
- Performs bedside procedures as are appropriate to the patient population.
Qualifications
The Physician Assistant (PA) is a licensed provider. The PA is responsible for the assessment and management of various populations of patients, medical and/or surgical, including diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, development of appropriate plans of care and ongoing evaluation.
The 51 Performance Drive PA is an integral member of the ambulatory practice. The PA will work closely with the entire care team, including administration and clinical leadership, serving as the main point of contact for any clinically related patient questions or concerns.
PA will support below sub-specialty practices (~15 surgeons) at 51 Performance Drive:
- General & GI Surgery
- Trauma and Acute Care Surgery
- Vascular Surgery
Responsibilities Include
- Run independent clinic 2-3 times/week, seeing a mix of consults, established patients and post-operative patients.
- Perform small ambulatory procedures and general wound care for sub-specialty patients.
- Assist with coverage of sub-specialty clinics as needed (i.e., if MD is called to SSH for emergency, etc.)
- Triage phone calls (and management of urgent in-basket messages) which may include scheduling same day/urgent clinic visits to evaluate patients and communicate with attending to expedite treatment plan.
- Prescription refills and discussion of test results with patients.
- Support Administrative Director in management of Medical Assistant team to ensure standardization across all sub-specialties.
