Position Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced
Registered Nurse (RN) to join our
Postpartum Unit, specializing in
couplet care for mothers and their newborns. This role involves providing comprehensive, family-centered care in a 20-bed unit with a high annual birth volume.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, evidence-based care to postpartum mothers and their newborns as a couplet
- Monitor and assess the physical and emotional well-being of both mother and infant
- Provide patient education on newborn care, breastfeeding, postpartum recovery, and discharge instructions
- Collaborate with physicians, lactation consultants, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes
- Administer medications and treatments per physician orders and unit protocols
Qualifications
- Current RN license in good standing
- Minimum 2 years of experience in postpartum, mother-baby, or obstetric nursing required
- IV insertion skills preferred
- BLS certification required; NRP certification preferred or must be obtained within designated timeframe
- Ability to work rotating shifts, with a primary focus on night shifts
- Flexibility to work every other weekend and holidays as scheduled
