We are looking for an individual to fill this new post within the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department at the Leeds Teaching Hospital NHS Trust sites.
Leeds Teaching Hospitals is a busy, research active tertiary centre providing regional Obstetric and Gynaecology services including specialist fetal medicine, maternal medicine, placenta accreta, urogynaecology and endometriosis services.

Main duties of the job
The successful applicant should possess MRCOG (or equivalent) and should be included on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT at the time of interview, if currently within a training programme within the UK. In accordance with the consultant appointment regulations, all other categories of doctors must be on the Specialist Register.
Applicants should have established skills in obstetrics and gynaecology, including complex obstetrics, gynaecological surgical skills and experience in abortion care.
A strong commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and a research interest is desirable. Consideration will be given to applicants who wish to work full or part time and those wishing to job share.

In relation to this post, this post will deliver 10 PAs supporting the Obstetric and Gynaecology teams
across Leeds General Infirmary and St James University Hospital.
This post has arisen as part of the replacement of Consultant staffing within the Leeds Teaching Hospitals Women's Clinical Service Unit (CSU) and the beginning of longer term workforce planning for Building the Leeds Way the opening of a the new hospital incorporating Maternity Services.

Experience
Essential
- Must be able to demonstrate a high level of clinical experience and competence in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
- Specifically, he/she must demonstrate higher training in:
- Experience of Labour ward management at a high level and demonstrate full range of skills necessary to provide expert care in a tertiary referral obstetric unit
- Experience in independent gynaecology practice relevant to post
- Evidence of continuous career progression consistent with personal circumstances.
Desirable
- Experience in advanced obstetric and gynaecology skills.
Training, Research, Teaching & Audit
Essential
- Should have completed a recognised training programme in labour ward and gynaecological practice.
- ATSM/SITM in Safe Practice in Abortion Care (or evidence of equivalent qualification).
- Evidence of the ability to carry out medical research.
- Experience in training undergraduate medical students and postgraduate doctors.
- Experience of participation in regular clinical audit / quality improvement projects (QIP).
Desirable
- Previous experience of supervising research by junior staff.
- Evidence of ongoing research or recent involvement as PI.
- GCP.
- Previous attendance on Appraisal Techniques and Small Group Teaching Workshops.
- Experience at National or Regional Level.

Qualifications
Essential
- MB BS (or equivalent)
- Member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (UK) or equivalent.
- Holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or be within six months of CCT date in Obstetrics & Gynaecology or have equivalent training and experience.
- On Specialist Register with GMC and holding a licence to practice.
- YOUR GMC NUMBER MUST BE STATED CLEARLY IN YOUR APPLICATION FORM.
- Applicants must provide information regarding their status from the GMC and/or relevant Royal College at the time of applications, in order for their application to be progressed further. Interview applicants must be on the Specialist Register at the time of interview
- Eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment and hold a current licence to practice.
